Despite misguided reactions to the "Sideways" slam of Merlot (actually, I think Miles was slamming bad Merlot, of which there is much), Vina Cobos LaGarto Merlot has been a best seller at the Lab. And for good reason, Paul Hobbs is the wine maker and has a long term commitment to his project in Argentina. It's a great value at $17/16.14 club. The Chardonnay has also been a best seller. Starting Thursday, we will have two new Vina Cobos releases: 2007 Felino Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Come in and try them on the tasting flight or by the glass or half glass.Le Jardin de Charlotte, Bourgogne Rouge Pinot Noir ($16.99/16.14 club) is one of the best bargains I've found n Burgundy, a special cuvée made for famed negociant Becky Wasserman by some of the top winemakers to be found. Thirst-quenching, delicious, quaffable and would be something that you can enjoy on a hot summer or late fall day that is not an intellectually challenging wine. You'll be hard-pressed to find something as pure from the domestic marketplace for under $20 and this really delivers on so many levels.
Last call for 2006 Orin Swift "The Prisoner" ($31.99/30.39). The winery is sold out and we have less than 2 cases left. Our price is the same as Hi-Time. There are two dedicated spots outside of the entry gate - no need for validation. If those spots are filled, enter the garage and park in any visitor spot and we will validate your ticket. If someone is collecting a parking fee - tell them you are going to the Wine Lab and take a ticket.
