On recession sales pitches from retailers: Ugh!

There is probably no way to stop this onslaught by the market. Times are tough in the wine biz (and elsewhere). We will do (almost) anything to earn some of your wine business. If we have a wine in stock, we'll match any local wine store price. If you want a case of wine, we will order if for you pronto and match any local wine store. (Conditions: We can't match if it is below our cost. We can't match prices for previous sales.)
Authenticity is our goal and we strive to provide great quality wines for fair prices.

Wednesday & Thursday: Wine-Ed - learn & blind taste - $10

Have 30 minutes on Wed. or Thurs? Drop by the Lab for a casual course on wine. Starting at 5:30 PM, and repeating while there is demand, we will view the first chapter of Jancis Robinson's video wine course. This week: Chardonnay.
Wines which compliment the chapter will be tasted blind. Each week we will offer a new chapter with wine tasting.

Saturday: Winemakers Jeff & Julie Thompson-Dobkin

Jeff and Julie are local artisan winemakers. Their Thompkin Cellars wines are delicious and you must taste them. Since 2001 they have produced a limited number of premium, small-lot wines, with grapes sourced from select vineyards in Santa Barbara Co. We will taste their Cabernet Franc based wine (Couchant), a Syrah from the Thompson Vineyard in Los Alamos, a Grenache from the Thompson Vineyard, and a Rhone varietal blend (3ie Degré). $20

Thursday October 9: Blind tasting of 5 Cabs charity benefit
The winner will be recorded on the international "Battle of the Cabs" web site.

Saturday October 18: Newport to Sunset Beach bus tour tasting of 12 Cabs

There are two dedicated spots outside of the entry gate - no need for validation. If those spots are filled, enter the garage and park in any visitor spot and we will validate your ticket. If someone is collecting a parking fee - tell them you are going to the Wine Lab and take a ticket.
