This Week: Blind Tasting returns, Tuesday special guest
Today, Stetson Robbins from Epicurean Wines will be available to enlighten us on selected wines from his portfolio. Wines included will be Ben Glaetzer's Directors Cut Shiraz. If you missed last weeks chance to taste Amon-Ra, I think this is Ben's baby-Amon-Ra! Forget what you know about Shiraz - think more northern Rhone. In addition, we'll have a special mini-flight of Kopke 10 and 20 year port. I've tasted lots of ports this year and have been hesitant to bring any into the Lab because most are not so good. These are and I've stocked them in affordable (and practical) half bottles. 10 Yr $19.99 (club 18.99), 20 Yr. $35.99 (club 34.19).The main tasting will be $15. The port tasting $10. Plus, "The Prisoner" is still on the tasting bar for those who missed it last week.
Wednesday & Thursday: Blind tasting of Rhone varietals
The last blind tasting was for Bordeaux varietals, this one will be on Rhones! Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Carignan, Petite Sirah; in all, 22 different grapes. Wines from these grapes are great pairs with many Thanksgiving dishes. If you are primarily a Cab or Merlot drinker, I encourage you to expand your palate and explore these wines. There are two dedicated spots outside of the entry gate - no need for validation. If those spots are filled, enter the garage and park in any visitor spot and we will validate your ticket. If someone is collecting a parking fee - tell them you are going to the Wine Lab and take a ticket.
