This Week: Italian Wine Class, Champagne Tasting, Boat Parade Events
At last weeks battle of the bubbly, the favorite was Roederer Estate Brut ($22.99) and in second place Varichon & Clerc Blanc de Blancs ($12.99). This Sunday we have our last Champagne tasting of the year. We will taste five wines: three Louis Roderer Champagnes and two of their domestic bubblies. Roederer is the maker of Cristal and one of the Champagnes is a "baby" Cristal.I love small production wine and I've probably mentioned that to you. It takes a lot of passion to start a winery and that passion comes through in the wines from small producers. These wines make a terrific gift as they are not found in most stores and represent hand made craftsmanship. We also have a variety of cloth gift bags from $2 to $12. We can ship your gift for you. Next Wednesday the Newport Harbor Boat Parade starts! We are taking reservations each night, up to 22 people, for a $40 package that includes parking ($25 value), Champagne, flight of wine, hors d'oeuvres and cheeses. There are two dedicated spots outside of the entry gate - no need for validation. If those spots are filled, enter the garage and park in any visitor spot and we will validate your ticket. If someone is collecting a parking fee - tell them you are going to the Wine Lab and take a ticket.
