Red Wine Basics. Party @ the Lab this Friday

I like to break complex things into simpler ones. When you enter the Lab, all the wine stored on the wall is red. On the left is our Rhone varietals section (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Petite Sirah, etc.) and on the right is the Bordeaux varietals section (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, etc.) I love both of these groups of wines. Each group is often blended to create unique flavor experiences.

ChrisAnn and I just returned from the 17th annual Hospice du Rhone in Paso Robles. It was started when few had interest in Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre & Viognier (VEE-yown-Yeah!) - there are 22 Rhone grape varietals. There is a whole wine world to explore and we love Rhone's at the Lab. Please join us as we continue to allow you to taste wines from across the wine spectrum.

Tobin James makes wine that you can relax with. Big and Delicious. Nothing pretentious. Put on your boots and experience a bit of Paso in Newport this Friday. We'll add a bit of Country to the music mix and Toby will be signing bottles like there is no tomorrow.
Nine Wines will be poured: Dream Weaver Sparkling, Chardonnay Radiance, Chardonnay Reserve, Chateau Le Cacheflo, Zinfandel Ballistic, Zinfandel James Gang Reserve, Cabernet Notorious, Cabernet James Gang Reserve, & Liquid Love.
Save 10% on 6 bottles, %15 on 12.
We've been taking reservations for three time slots: 5, 6:30 and 8. Those lucky enough to have a reservation, please try to keep within your 1 and a half hour reservation so that those that arrive after you have a place to sit. If you don't have a reservation, come on down but expect standing room only. $20 + tax.

They are young and new and making wine in their own way, organically and using a more natural approach. Winery partner Brandon Sparks-Gillis joins us as we taste their current releases of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Syrah, MJM and Rose. Tasting wine like this makes us excited. Come and experience some exceptional wine. $17. Drop by anytime that evening.
