LA Times named 2004 White Rock Vineyards Napa Valley Claret the wine of the week on Wednesday. We were named one of 5 stores in the southland where you can buy it. Our insider club members got a bottle in April for a nice discount. We didn't get a single call from that LA times article. (By the way, our price has always been lower than the only other shop in OC where you can get it.)
Lesson 1: not too many read the newspaper any more and even less are moved by the content.
Lesson 2: Times are tough in the wine biz.
The reason we started Wine Lab was to sort through the tens of thousands of mediocre wines and bring you the best at fair prices. We are not a superstore. We're proud of that and want to bring you a better way to choose your wine.

Next Wednesday, highly recommended winery event

We have wanted to have Tablas Creek winery at the Lab for a long time. This winery has taken the responsibility to bring many of the Rhone varietals to California that are now flourishing and we are all loving. Their wine is an elegant balance of new and old world.
I don't think there are too many better ways to spend $15 and a little bit of your time. Plus we'll be offering special prices on the wine.

Cheese of the Week: Shelburne Farms Cheddar

This award-winning cheese is only made from the fresh, raw milk of purebred Brown Swiss Cows raised on the farm in Vermont. It is aged for 24 months and has a robust and distinctively sharp flavor with wildly complex undertones....only $10.99 for a MOO SIZE piece. (Our artisan cheeses average over half a pound and we believe them to be great values.)

Happy (as in crazy) Hours

30% discount on wines by the glass until 6 PM on weekdays and 5 PM on weekends.
This means you can get a glass of good wine for $2.80 or a flight for $4.20
We've redesigned our flights and now have three: a white, red, and "over the top red".
The white and red flights are usually under $10.
(Happy hours end early if we have a winery event.)

There are two dedicated spots outside of the entry gate - no need for validation. If those spots are filled, enter the garage and park in any visitor spot and we will validate your ticket. If someone is collecting a parking fee - tell them you are going to the Wine Lab and take a ticket.
